This is the new Schmickles... LOL My mum said that her friend's cat had had kittens so she was having one. I told her off because a) she knew I was looking for kittens and b) if she wants another cat she should get one from the RSPCA. So we went up there today so I could see Eric... ...who is the dog I'm wanting to adopt but am currently awaiting written permission from the landlord. The letting agents are useless so I'm still waiting! Took Eric for a walk down some of the lanes near the centre and encountered some of these HUUUUUUUUGE things... and views like this... So Shads is going to have a big brother with Eric (name probably subject to change) and a little sister with Schmickles (whose name will probably remain the same but is open to debate). ANYWAY, Mum is also adopting a cat called Angel from the RSPCA who is an 18 month old female who gets on well with dogs and other cats so perfect for her. She's a beautiful cat who likes a lot of fuss so mum is dead excited now.

Aaaaaaw! Gorgeous! A tabby with white feet like my cat. Hard to believe my fat, furry, stripey monster was ever that cute! Eric is gorgeous too. Hope you manage to get him ok. The bullock was quite nice as well! ;D ;D

Forgot to say, Eric was brought in as part of a cruelty case and it's taken about a year to get ownership signed over to the RSPCA as part of a court case. He's now 15 months old and has known nothing else other than the kennels so it will be a lot of work but he's a gorgeous dog so it will be well worth it!

Oh Aprilaydee, what a gorgeous kitty. We have a little mummy cat (we think she's got kittens as her teats are very exposed and 'pronounced') who comes visiting for food (which we make sure she gets in plentiful supply) and a bit of a rest. I'm hoping she will take up residence with us as she needs loving I followed her the other day and she led me to a barn but I couldn't get in. We know the guy who owns the barn so we're going to see if he knows just where they are. She's so thin but is still a bit wary of us. I just want to give her a big hug and lots and lots of tickles. If she's had kittens well we'll have to make sure they're going to be ok. OH is dreading that - he's expecting me to say we'll have them and he's probably right!

When my cat first started hanging around our garden he had a pregnant female in tow. Of course we assumed he was the father but, as she was very small the RSPCA took her away to look after her and when she had the kittens they were obviously not his but the offspring of the big black tom who also hung around the area. "My" cat had apparently been giving all his attention to the lady-cat 2 doors along because she produced a litter of Pushy-cat clones! They kept one of them and even I couldn't tell the difference once he'd grown up. I was forever trying to call him into our house by mistake!

Yes, they do like to put themselves about, dont they. One of their less endearing qualities nightowl, I've come over all flippant on another thread. When you see it - forgive me. I've had one of those days (It's the government secrets one, started by Chuckles, I think).

I've had one of those days (It's the government secrets one, started by Chuckles, I think). Bless you shrub, you're flippant on nearly all your posts! ;D ;D As for the Mog putting himself about, The RSPCA had that dealt with for us before we took him on. We only had to catch him and get him in the carrying box and deliver him to the vet. ONLY!!!Never managed to get him in the box since!! The only exception was when I moved house, and that took 2 days! Had to go back for him, and risked life and limb getting him in! He suddenly developed extra legs, all armed and dangerous!!!! He even managed to turn the cage upside-down in the car, from the inside!!!

Oh I can identify with that. My dearly departed Tabitha left a smelly memory in my car (took us hours to get her in it) when I moved house a number of years ago. Liquid as opposed to solid. If I'd been a chemist I could probably have used its potency in some perfume or other and made a fortune. She was pure 'babe' and I miss her big, big eyes and noisy purr (though not her smell). WELL... Neighbour spoke to the landlord for us and asked about the dog for us and he said absolutely no problem. We just need it in writing now to give to the RSPCA
I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo chuffed!!!
Karen-my eldest sister and I said if we ever won the lottery we'd buy a big house in the middle of nowhere with lots of land and open up an animal sanctuary. It would have loads of cats though cos we both adore them LOL

Eric is now home, loving his new toys, scared of his own reflection and the cat. Not scared of the rabbits anymore, just frustrated because he wants to play with them.
Shads isn't too happy, he's gone off sulking somewhere. He tried to make himself look big when he first saw Eric but all he could manage was a mohican and a basil brush tail. He wasn't that fussed about him though when I fed Eric at dinner time, his head was straight into Eric's bowl while he was there. Since though, he's just been running away from him.
He knows what his bed is, he knows sit, he's starting to know his name, kinda knows fetch and loves his new toys. Only word he isn't too sure of is "no" at the moment, but he'll soon learn that one.

Awww a big munchie kiss to Eric from Anty JennyWrenn - well done April you have done a wonderful thing adopting him - am sure he has landed on his feet now And Moggy means prostitute eh? Aghhhh my GF who loves cats was so pleased to buy a house near a road called Moggy Lane I will try and find out why it was called that - it is in the countryside and not on a busy main road

Well we were trying to ignore him as much as possible so that he didn't get into the habit of whining for attention knowing we'd come down to fuss him.
I moved his bed in front of the door and went through the other door which leads into the porchway and then shut that and the door between the hallway and the porch so when he scratched that door it was harder to hear. Eventually got some sleep between 1am and 4am when OH got up for work. Then I heard him scratching again about half 5 then again about 8am. I don't think I would've heard him if OH had shut the doors behind him as I did.

I know, just glad I've got a week off work cos if he tries waking me up on a work night... hehe
He didn't do any mess or anything and no damage apart from a bit of paint off the main door (which Shads helped with when he used to get shut in there) and dirty paw prints up the door.
He keeps farting... And they smell worse than Shad's do, which is an achievement I tell thee!
When I was in Pets at Home yesterday, she told me all about the foods available etc and how they put them on the shelves. Apparently, as you look at the wall/shelves which have the food on, the good stuff is to the left and the bad stuff (nutrition wise) is on the right. All the "wet" food ie meat not biscuits, is on the right. She reckoned Iams was at the bottom of the best stuff and the Hill science plan stuff was at the top (bloomin should be at those prices!!). Their own stuff was about halfway between the 2 and half the price so I'm going to try and get him onto just biscuits. They gave me loads of free samples and he's been scoffing them.
The guys at the RSPCA said that he probably wouldn't eat for a few days while he was settling in. He's licked the bowls clean of everything I've put down for him so far and had snacks in between while playing with his Kong toy. I think he's got that side of settling in sorted, just need to sort out this separation thing. Hard when he follows me around everywhere and is now cuddled up next to me on the sofa...
I've got to get my car taxed today so I will leave him in the kitchen again and treat him when I return so he knows that I do come back and he's a good boy for not being naughty while I was gone.

Our last dog - a black labrador by the name of Sam - wouldn't eat tinned dog food at all. His main diet consisted of lambs liver, pigs liver, ox liver etc, and he was also particularly partial to cod cheeks! Oh and he wouldn't touch the food if it was heaped up on the plate. Perhaps he was a gourmet chef in a previous life. ;D
