Well I don't mind him dreaming about them, it's the actual chasing he gets chastised for!

He caught another bird today Had it by the feet this time, managed to get it free again and it flew off. Told him off again and he went off sulking for a few hours.

You have it to do. Again, and again and again.

You cant do anything April about his bird catching habit; it has been bred into him ffom his ancestors - dread the day he leaves one on the step as a present for you - dont scold him he doesnt really know any better awful tho it is to see

They usually fold them under the frontdoor of next doors. Being a next doors I have found quite a collection of mini corpses already. A cat is a predator there is no stopping that. Just keep him indoors when the breeding season for the birds is on and they have flipflop clumsy youngsters.

I know he can't help it and I know it's nature etc but I just wish he wouldn't do it and would do as he told. He caught another today, a little finch type bird. Poor lil bugger didn't fly off again, Shads re caught him, I got him free again and put him in the rabbit run to calm down and see if he could fly. He didn't fly so I had to just let him go and hope he didn't get caught again. Shads brought him back again later and this time the bird was bleeding and I got blood on my top. Managed to get him off Shads again, bird went into the bushes and then we went to see Eric. Shads hasn't brought him back again so I figure he must be dead because if he was still flapping around Shads would've got him again. It was obviously his time to go

yeah it's a bloomin loud bell as well but I think he either waits under the redcurrant bushes in our garden and lord knows how he catches them in someone else's garden.

Shads woke me up about 45 minutes ago howling outside. Most normal cats would be somewhere sheltering from the rain. Not this cat! Comes in absolutely drenched. Dried him off with a towel, the towel is now soaked and the cat is still wet. I've left him washing himself dry now.

My cat Pushy is stupid like that too. Sits out in the pouring rain and gets soaked, but if I spill a tiny drop of water on him in the kitchen he carries on as if I'd mortally wounded him!!! As for Shads, why don't you get him a really BIG bell ( like a cow-bell!) Then he won't be able to move fast enough to catch them! ;D ;D

it's bloomin noisy enough when he trots around the house during the night. You can hear him coming 2 gardens away so I dunno how he manages to catch so many birds. They must obviously be so close to him it's easy, which shows he's obviously lying in wait for them for some time so they don't see him.

Aaaah! A black cat waiting deep in the shadows. No wonder you called him that. I'm constantly amazed how often my tabby is laying among the plants and I don't see him til he moves and shows his white bits! The other day he was lying on my bit of wooden decking and I didn't spot him straight away. Amazing camouflage, tabby!

Schmickles is a tabby with white socks and belly so that will be interesting to see how she can hide in the garden.
And I was going to call him Shadow but figured shouting that sounded a little lame so decided to spell it as I said it, hence Shadda.
He's gone back outside again now in the pouring rain but he definitely knows the garage door is open now so he can go in there if he wants to. Hopefully clean his paws before he comes in again. Just mopped up the last lot!
