Not got slowworms here but had them in my last garden, and my horrible Moggy used to catch one and bite it in half, or quarters, and then just sit there and watch the bits wriggling about!!

He IS horrible, SO!! That's why I'm glad I haven't got Slowworms in this garden. I don't encourage the birds either, it's not fair on them.

yes, horrid. my mum's cats got a slowworm a few weeks ago, but luckily by the tail, so it got away under the scratching stump. i rescued it and took it out the back to safety in the compost (the garden proper is all wired to keep the cats in, only my big boy gets out the back, he is border patrol and pest control officer). then the next week i ran one over with the mower!

wow! mum's old neuter caught a baby grass snake! she was playing so gently that it didnt have a scratch on it! i managed to rescue it and took it out back. it hated the compost heap that the slow worms love, it was tasting with its tongue and made a beeline for the edge, and gone, very fast, into the hedge. it was softer than the slowworms, quite thrilling to touch (i rescued it in a towel but had to give it a litle stroke as i let it go) .
