This year we've grown carrots, taters, chillis, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, dwarf beans, lettuce, rocket, strawberries and peas in containers. Any advice on other stuff to grow in large (18 & 20") pots?
We've only tried 'rocket' first earlies, any other potato variety that does particularly well in containers? has anyone tried pink fir apple? we're not experienced vegetable gardeners...but we're keen.

Hi Cheery!
I can strongly recommend Kestrel, this is a second early that's usually harvested in July. It has a smooth skin with attractive purple eyes.
It's a winner of many prizes at the shows.
*I've read claims that it shows a good resistance to slugs too.

Hi there. You could also try Squash and courgettes. You can buy mini varieties of both specifically for growing containers

Hia Cheery! We did peas, runner beans, broad beans, carrots, tomatoes, strawberries and potatoes this year. Last year we did parsnips and they were lovely but small - you can't grow many in a pot but it's worth giving it a go. We tried cauliflowers this year too but they really fell foul to the cabbage white butterfly while we were away so I've had to ditch them. I'll be investing in fine netting of some sort before I try them again!
(Clems will also grow nicely in an 18inch pot!!!)
