What to grow and when?
I have empty patches on my plot and haven't used green manure before, and advice would be appreciated.

Hi jlottie, sweetleaf, mrskp. I havn't got a lottie. but did read about green manures in AG magazine last week. It said about mustard.- Tender annual. - rapid growth, great weed suppressor. - Dig in during autmn. Can be trimmed to delay flowering. - Will grow most quickly in moist soils. There are four other types of green manure mentioned. and a reason to why we use them. I can photocopy the page and post it to you if you like. As it would take me too long to type it out. alicat Ps. It might be a bit basic though for your needs. But i'm still happy to post it.

That would be very kind of you alicat. The link that sweetleaf provided is very useful, as it The Organic Gardening site: www.organiccatalog.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=21_51. but you can never have too much info and I'd be interested to read your AG article. Have you got a scanner ? Just scan it and stick it up here like you would do any other image. I'd answered someone's offer for green manure seeds on our local freecycle site. I was maybe expecting one packet. I got about 6 ! All different kinds, so I'm fulled seeded up and raring to sow ! There are such nice people around the gardening world. ;D

Thanks for all the suggestions, the links have good info too, I reckon I will still have time to sow some Winter Tares for a couple of weeks.
