I have an ornamental grape which is laden with purple dusky grapes - I mean LOTS! They don't taste very nice (not very sweet) but it's painful not to use them....do you think I could use them for wine making or something? It's SUCH a waste! Anybody got any ideas? I have posted about them before but now there are bunches and bunches of them....I must be able to do something with them?

I wouldn't be able to stand by and watch them go to waste either. There are only certain things that you can't make wine from, like grass and fuchsia, but those grapes sound Ok to make wine with, and that's what I would do with them, no doubt! I remember my mum making some grape wine from a red grapevine we had and that was far too sweet for my liking, so maybe the lack of sweetness of the grapes, combined with the sugar that you have to add, would make a nice combination? All I would worry about is that the grapes are safe to eat and then I would have a go, you bet!

Ooh, well thank you Mrs B! I'm a country girl brought up in the frugal tradition and it grieves me no end to see all those gorgeous grapes just hanging about - I don't mind sharing with the birds but me first! I shall have to go buy some sterilising stuff and sugar....
