I grew some Tomatoes this year (Gardeners' Delight). They have taken an age to ripen, and they aren't very juicy either.
Any ideas as to what went wrong?

Were they late going in? Were they in a greenhouse? Did you feed them when they started forming fruit? Assuming you did feed them, what did you feed them with?

I don't think they were late going in (plant was given to me by a friend at work). Fed them with Tomato food once fruit started to set and pinched out all the right bits and they were grown in a pot outside (sheltered west-facing garden).

It was probably down to them being outside then Bagpuss. Many people were expressing concern this year that their toms were late in ripening, and that was 'in' a greenhouse. I would suggest that you were just unlucky this year that the season didn't favour you.
Although we had a good spell of hot weather this year, we also had long spells of very cool weather when toms made no progress - their growth and development stood still.
Doesn't sound like you did anything wrong... unless somebody knows better?

Thanks sleepysunday. I will maybe try again next year, and hope they were better.
