Hi all,
a couple of months ago I sowed T&Ms 'Chinese Leaves' mixture - mainly Mizuna, Pak Choi and Chinese rocket - and have now discovered to my delight that not only do they taste great in a salad, but there was almost no slug damage - the taste of some of them is quite strong, so possibly not to the slugs' liking (actually, I remember Gardenhammerette suggested rocket on another thread). So, if your lettuce has been slug-fodder, this may be part of the solution ... cheers ...

Mine were eaten by something pigeons perhaps just the stalks left for us, still I always try to feed the birds.

Good point CC, I think you're probably right. As well as usual ground-sowing, we keep a small trough of salad leaves including rocket and lamb's lettuce on a table outside the kitchen door for pick-and-come-again type small salad 'harvests'. Birds don't seem to trust it and slugs don't climb up to find out... could try an experiment with that, Gertrudej, some birds won't feed except on the ground...
