Some may be interested in this government e-petition which was started by Naomi Phillips...... "We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to provide more land for allotments for people to grow their own vegetables." petitions.pm.gov.uk/allotments/

I really REALLY hate to be questioning this because I think allotments are such a good thing, but I'm THAT sensitive about the internet (and OH is worse!) I'm a bit wary about giving out so much information. Is there another way I can sign the petition?

You TRUST it MORE because it's a GOVERNMENT site JLottie? Are you not in Britain then? Oh, your profile shows you as being in Cornwall.
So, this government that
Has CCTV cameras everywhere Wants numberplate recognition installed so they know where you car is all the time Wants ID cards so they know all your personal details Has supported an illegal war and detention without charge Wants to legalise extended detention in this country from 2 weeks to 3 months
Ha! If it's a government site all the more reason for caution IMO
If I'm not around tomorrow you will know why.

Treat the earth well: It was not given to you by your parents, It was loaned to you by your children. I really didn't mean to stir things up when I posted my earlier reply JLottie. I think the government should be petitioned to provide more allotments, but my concern was the use of the internet. Please can we forget about this difference of opinions and carry on before?

JLottie that's the same as we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we merely borrow it from our children <nods>
I don't think I'd like an allotment, couldn't trust it not to get damaged or be stolen from while I wasn't there....

I have to admit it happens, sheds get burned crops trashed etc, but the satisfaction of home grown produce keeps us going back! Plus we`re all stubborn, ;D

Thanks guys - put me off getting one!! ;D And I was seriously thinking about it too! Dont be like that P, it really depends where the plot is and just how much effort has been put into security, it doesnt happen to everyone!

I know I know! Actually the lotties near us seem to be nicely tucked away and locked up most of the time. It's just that an allotment is so big, and I wouldn't have a clue where to start! I know where to come with my questions though ;D

I'm a bit wary about giving out so much information. Is there another way I can sign the petition? If your unsure about signing the e petition then i would write to you local mp or no 10. If it's any help it is an official site so is probably more secure than some of the forums you register and post on.
