It would be nice to build up a data bank of quick, easy ideas and recipes for any occasion.
Here's a few that are nice for a snack or for buffets.
Honey roasted new potatoes.
Get some new potatoes and cut in half if required. Par-boil/steam for 10 minutes Put in a baking tray and drizzle olive oil and runny honey over the spuds making sure all spuds are coated Add a few sprigs of rosemary or lemon thyme from the garden Bake in the oven for about half hour (200c) or until nicely brown

Apricot and bacon rolls
Cut some bacon lengthway up the rasher...smoked or unsmoked can be used. Get some dried apricots and roll one or two in the long streaks of bacon. Secure with a cocktail stick Bake for about 10 mins (200c)

Yorkshires with gravy dip
120g plain flour 2 eggs 300ml milk Beat the above together and put in fridge for half hour Meanwhile, fill a small yorkshire mould with about 5mm of oil in each mould and place in a very hot oven until the oil is smoking Sppon the mix into each mould Place back into oven until yorkshires have risen Serve hot or cold with a gravy dip....ideal for buffets
Sage, chives, chilli, garlic, cheese or infact anything you want can be added to the batter.

They are devine....believe me and so simple. I'd probably take them out half way through and turn them or give them a shake !!!!!
Parsnips would do equally well i would imagine.

Honey Roasted New Potatoes - I do a similarish recipe on the barbecue which would be just as good roasted. In addition to honey add grainy mustard & soy sauce (equal quantities to the honey). It is delicious.

Party Mushrooms, or can be served as a starter.
Obviously the quantities will depend on how many you're doing.
Take stalks out of mushrooms and chop. Finely chop streaky bacon and onion. Fry in a little olive oil and add breadcrumbs and seasoning to make a fairly sticky mixture. Spoon mixture into the mushrooms. Place in a hot oven, sprinkle with a little cheese if desired, and cook for about 10-15 mins.
Dead simple but really, really tasty ;D

Talking of quick recipes, don't forget parsnip chips. I tried these last year when I had a glut of parsnips and was trying to invent ways to cook the darn things ... Cut into 3mm square chips - any length Deep fry until light brown then drain Delicious with any dips ...
