Quote from Obilex:- "Anyway, Plan B was quick and easy to prepare and tasted delicious and the Belgians have no idea it had beetroot in it. Might tell them next time but not before Possum has finished off the rest. She thinks she doesn't like beetroot." Erm - remain vigilant!!

Margi - no I wouldn't ..........probably.
DK - I grated my chocolate so no big chunks. It's how I do my choccy carrot cake too and that has a white chocolate icing. I did melted chocolate and butter fo rthe beetroot cake and Possum has just scoffed the last slice. Wonderful stuff, chocolate, when you need cheering up. She has a cold already!

Hi Obelix!
Thanks for your take on the recipe; I always make such a mess when grating choc.
I've just made (my own version) a chocolate sponge with morello cherry & fresh whipped double cream filling.

I grate mine in a food processor - no mess - which is also used for grating the carrots and then making the entire choc carrot cake and now, of course, for pureeing beetroot.

I'd love to have you come and visit again but the timing will be a problem. Your school hols don't coincide with ours and that Whitsun BH weekend is going to be full of English twinners after all - or so they say. Might have to be summer hols.

Hi Obby
I hope you're feeling better.
Timing shouldn't be a problem - I might try to get us on a day trip or overnighter to Keukenhof from Manchester or Liverpool Airport, and we'll look forward to seeing you later in the year if that's how it pans out... I'd LOVE to see your garden in the summer...!
