Have decided on Christmas Dinner! Roast Turkey Roast Potatoes and Parsnips Sausage and Bacon rolls Apricot and Pistachio stuffing Carrots Brussels with Chestnuts Potato and Celeriac Dauphinoise Leeks au Gratin Gravy,Bread sauce and Cranberry sauce For pudding Christmas pudding and Brandy butter,Custard or Cream OR Pavlova What is everyone else having?? For breakfast Christmas morning I love scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on hot buttered muffins. We thought Christmas was going to be just the two of us, in which case we would have had roast sirloin with all the trimmings, christmas pud with brandy butter and cream, cheese and biscuits. Red wine, followed by port and maybe a glass of brandy with coffee. Daughter and son-in-law are now coming for dinner, which we will be having in the evening as SIL is working a night shift on Christmas eve. So we will now be having roast turkey with all the usual trimmings

I often work on the day itself in which case OH cooks egg and chips with bread and butter when I get home around 8pm! We then open our presents...(usually around 9pm) This year I'm not working...I'm torn between a free range turkey from a local farm or a stuffed turkey crown from M&S. There'll only be OH, my Daddy and myself for the yuletide feast...but then all the rellies will descend on us for tea.....so I'll be busy as a busy thing....AND I have my niece, her OH and their sons (2 and 4 years old) coming on Boxing Day as well...fab ;D

For Christmas Dinner there will be myself and OH, 3 sons ,3 daughters -in-law, 2 grand-daughters,1 grandson and 1 of our daughters-in-laws mum and dad - hence the long menu!

Pam I'll have to pass on the sherry and bring my own Gin!! The OH isn't mad on Turkey and I actually prefer it cold, so we very rarely have a 'traditional lunch' on Christmas day. A Rib of Beef is often a favourite. Last yeat I made a Gordon Ramsey recipe for Beef Wellington which was gorgeous - the OH has requested the same again this year!!! Just need to work out the veggies, I'm thinking of 'borrowing' your Leeks au Gratin idea ;D Oh, and he's asked for a 'chocolatey' pud ....

Made my butcher laugh when he asked me how much I wanted, and I made a measurement of about 8 inches between my two hands!! I'm still not sure if it's just me and the OH or if my parents are coming to us, they were going to see my brother and his family in Germany but since Mum was ill earlier in the year she finds travel abit stressful. If Mum is here I'll have to do something Veggie or Fishy for her. I usually do a ham (pinched the recipe from Nigella Lawson!!) it's cooked in Coca Cola which sounds disgusting but is actually very nice....especially when you have it around about the 28th December with fried eggs and chips GH X

We don't do anything special for breakfast on Christmas Day - but we do have a menu that we always stick to:
Christmas Eve: roasted boiled ham with jacket potatoes, mustard and leeks, followed by mince pies
Christmas Day: roast turkey with roasted spuds, roasted parsnips, brussel sprouts, bread sauce, "green" (parsley) stuffing and "brown" (chestnut) stuffing, sausages and bacon. Someones OH manages to persuade mum to cook some other vegetables too! We usually have smoked salmon and salad in the evening.

For pud I was going to do Bread and Butter pudding with whiskey but looking at the one Rita has posted ...could be a change of plan Have to cater for two picky teenages Boxing Day and sadly I dont like Christmas pudding/cake/mince pies Not sure about main course no one wants turkey

We do the brown sugar and mustard thing on the ham - it's great fun but very messy. I'm sure there's honey involved too, but certainly no cola!

Starter: Courgette Soup Main Course: Roast Turkey Kilted sausages (sausages wrapped in Bacon) Sausagemeat, Sage and Onion Stuffing Carrots and swede mixed with black pepper (my fav) Sprouts Roast Potatoes and Parsnips Duchesse Potatoes Yorkshire Puddings (ok i know it's not traditional but I'm from Lincs originally just on the border with Yorks! - and Dad likes 'em) Gravy, Bread sauce and Cranberry sauce Dessert: Christmas pudding with white sauce and brandy and/or Gateau and/or Trifle or Knickerbocker glory complete with sparklers usually for kids (big and small) Followed by coffee, tea, mints and mince pies with cream plus petite fours (an aunt makes them) then no doubt a shed load of antacid tabs as we'll be like weebles wobbling all over the place with raging indigestion! I don't offer Xmas cake at Dinner but give this as a leaving present in a little cake box (the type you get for weddings) and I usually do favours for each place setting (a Scottish Tradition i picked up) as a wee minding of Xmas. Then it starts all over again for Boxing day with more rellies/visitors although usually don't offer Turkey but do something different! Oh and to keep the cook going i tend to have a few wee glasses of wine. ;D
