Good evening
Inspired by the fish & chips I had from the chippy tonight, who would like to nominate either their local chippy or one that they've been to as "the Best fish & chips you'll get anywhere".
I'd like to nominate Aldeburgh Fish & Chip Shop. Fresh cod, landed on the beach in the morning, into the fryer and on sale by lunchtime. They are absolutely fantastic. .

Coulsons fish and chips in Carrville near Durham. Fresh fish everyday, if he can't get fresh he won't open. He only cooks 7 fish at a time so the pans not overcrowded. Thanks Fat Andy i could just eat them now but he shut 20 minutes ago.

Obviously the best fish 'n chips are from anywhere traditional in Hull. Fleetwood is a decent second. But both places use haddock, as their main staple dish, rather than cod, as historically the cod "went down south".

Well the chippy next to the great orme tramway came in the final of the national contest and they are bloomin lovely. Don't get to go there much cos it's a bit out of the way (top end of llandudno, not really a "passing" sort of place). There's another called the harbour view in deganwy who has really nice dinners and another in conwy who has a sign outside saying "probably the best fish and chips in town" and they're right. Very often you go into a chippy cos it smells really nice but when you get them they taste nothing like they smell

The Magpie Cafe in Whitby I'll second that .....or Trenchers in Whitby.......but then there's the chippy over the bridge just before you get to the pub called Middle Earth ;D I sometimes go down to the seafront where I live to catch the fishing boats coming in. The best fresh cod on the planet!

Adolfo's in Elgin, superb or the one in the waterside area of Londonderry, at end of night if you ask for a fish supper you get two, doesn't use them next day. Though sometimes a good fish supper is down to a good batter.

We don't have a fish and chip shop close to us There are 2 fish and chip vans which come to the village, one on Wednesdays and the other on Fridays - we tried one of them when we first moved here - they were absolutely dreadful The vans come to the village at 5 pm which is far too early for us anyway, we prefer to have dinner at 7 pm. My OH makes wonderful fish and chips though, (we prefer haddock) home made beer batter using John Smiths and reduced fat oven chips. ;D

Haven't been to a decent chippy for years Leicester has some of the best Indian restaurants in England, and the Italian and Mexican ones are good too...but I've got to admit the chippies are rubbish. (unless someone else knows otherwise)

I don't like fish ( I used to up to the about the age of 16, but then went right off it.) I am partial to a portion of steaming hot chips though and could heartily recommend Eagle's of Boston, just along from the footie ground. ;D

The only fish I like really is cod, and it has to be thick, white and well cooked. I like tuna too...but you don't tend to get that from chippies.
