Aren't they beautiful! Think you know mine already Rita but here goes;
1 Fringed Lily
1 Pickerel weed
1 Bog Arum
A few Yellow Flag Irises
Some kind of Carex which I bought whist dormant in Winter with a Scirpus label in the pot, but Scirpus it isn't
A tiny bit of Pennywort which doesn't seem to like my pond
lots of lovely Azolla and some oxygenating plants like Elodea
Really will have to get the photos up and running...
No flowers as yet......

 I have mostly the same plants -all the frost hardy ones. I want more flowers next year. My frogbit and hyacinths didn't flower this year and the water soldier I put in two years ago never reappeared! Hope this isn't too big, photobucket's playing up again! |

Mine's hardly a pond - more a water garden coz it's in a big pot. But I've got:
IRIS VERSICOLOUR
HOUTTUYNIA CORDATA “CHAMELEON”
THALIA DELBATA
NYMPHAEA AURORA
The water lily has never flowered but I've moved the water garden into a hotter spot and have high hopes for next year.
I've kind of assumed that you are a pond/water garden expert Rita - is that correct (and don't be coy!!!) Lovely photos btw.

Toonia - lovely pond I've had no success at all with over wintering water hyacinth The best I ever achieved was keeping them in a plastic container of pond water in my conservatory - but I was too eager to get them back into my pond the next spring and they were killed by a late frost. Mine never flowered BTW!! As for my frogbit - this year it went mad and flowered really well too - I had to remove loads of it as it just about took over the whole of my pond. My pond plants have been plagued with black fly this summer, and other than washing them off with a hose pipe I don't think there is much else that can be done! My arum hasn't flowered at all this year - due to the very hot summer I reckon |

Yes, I tried once to overwinter water hyacinth but they're not worth the space in the greenhouse really.
I've tried the hose trick to get rid of the water lily aphids but there's not enough water pressure here, we live too high up! AND I have uninvited and unwelcome goldfish in the pond which I never feed but they seem to be getting plump on something -and it ain't aphids!

Yes they are a deep chocolate brown with red veins! Beautiful lemon yellow flowers too.

Ooooooooo they are (were) lovely .... until ..... the puppy jumped in the pond and found the need to rescue them from drowning ... taking them to the safety of dry land and leaving them in the summer sun to dry...  |

A iris which is supposed to be pink but never flowers , Skunk Cabbage which the frogs lie out on when they are sunbathing, I did have Hottuynia but it seems to have climbed out and spread around. It sounds a bit of a disaster, well it is really, but actually looks OK

Ditto on the Houtunya. It is a weed in a pretty disguise.
Do not let any root bits get onto elsewhere or you are in for a mono culture garden.

You can use who ever you want, Yahoo is just fine. We tend to recommend photobucket to members as it seems to be the easiest to use, but the choice is yours at the end of the day |

Just starting out and so far I have only got a bit of Acorus, Dwarf Rush and a water lilly.
I'm waiting for some watermint Mentha aquatica to arrive and will get that in too.
And will be planning some Iris soon.

Hi again folks, Well the pond is not yet done but I just had to buy a few plants for it today! I did my usual trick and bought on impulse I ended up with, Juncus effusus Cyperus papyrus Acorus gramineus Bletilla striata I think some, if not all could be tender  Anybody know anything about them please? Just thought I would ask how your pond plants fair in the cold weather? This is my first " pond" winter and things have taken a hammering with the hard frosts we have had. I wonder how many plants will come through it? |

I wouldn't worry db. We get some really icy conditions here and the pond usually freezes solid at such times. I haven't lost anything yet, they've all come back. |
