I have a soft spot for golden orfe, as my one was my first pond fish I ever had. When I had finished my pond, rather than get more I got Blue Orfe, so I would always know which one Lucky was. Ahhhhh! I have admitted I am a softie now, so can we now forget it! ;D

No FA - it would be too difficult - especially if the house we move to doesn't have a pond.

No FA - it would be too difficult - especially if the house we move to doesn't have a pond. I did it Rita!! Could you not just take a few favourites and have them in a temporary pond, like Koi owners have? Then you can take your time and decide whether you want to build one or not. If not I am sure you could sale them. I may have to do this again, if we move again, so I Know how you feel. How about just the orfe, as you sound like you like them? Keith

I think the fish are happy here now, I would hate to put them through the stress of moving especially in the winter

Have you got a moving date then? I am hoping if we have to move, it won't be in the cold weather or I might have to have a re think.

I think the fish are happy here now, I would hate to put them through the stress of moving especially in the winter Winter's the best time to move fish Rita....you're not giving the fish lots of food and they are pretty inactive so not giving off loads of ammonia, nitrite etc. It's like moving a plant when it's dormant. Most water authorities and people such as the national rivers authority move or restock fish in autumn or winter.

Then why can't we buy them in the winter then Andy?

Then why can't we buy them in the winter then Andy? Because no one is sitting out by their ponds in winter Rita.....and therefore no one's buying fish. And all the time the shops have livestock, they also have dead stock !!!! Many people love plants such as the smoke tree (cotinus cogygria). But because it's deciduous, it's not of a commercial value as bare stemmed shrubs do not usually sell. Now wait until the cotinus has lovely purple leaves and it'll go like hot cakes. It's purely from a selling point of view.
