If you've treated your Xmas cactus properly, it should be showing buds now.

Mine is just the same sweetleaf - it doesn't know what time of year it is - it seems to flower when it feels like it

Indeed. They can flowere any time between November and March depending on the weather but I usually manage to get one into flower over Xmas.

Two out of three in bud now, they are all in the same position, treated exactly the same..... family are taking bets on the winner, looks like a two horse race, IMO! I of course, am betting on the donkey.

Hi Rita Must confess that I did it for years after reading that it was good for them! Great really 'cause it gave me room inside and I didn't have to worry about them
When we moved I got rid of it and the one I have now is a white flowering one I bought from Home base last year so it may be the variety. Must admit it has put on a lot of growth over the Summer sat on my kitchen windowsill but no buds yet!

My 'Christmas' cactus is in full flower at the moment (26.10.06). I always stick them outside in a shady place as soon as there is no risk of frost. It is brought back inside when the buds are well formed.

I saw some the other day with cream flowers, they were reduced too but I had too much to carry. Mine live on top of the kitchen cupboards and are just out for a wash now and again since the slugs took to them one summer, the buds are all coming now I've looked.

Hi. I took this pic a day or so ago, before I saw this thread. This is what total neglect, plenty of light and cold draughts does Wx

Wow! My old Nanna had one which looked just like that when it flowered. It stood in state on a lace table cloth in front of a window with a net curtain in the freezing cold (my nanna was a tough old girl) and was spectacular every year. I feel quite nostalgic. Thanks Willow!

My Dad had one which he always kept up in the spare ( freezing cold) bedroom and he brought it into the warm when the buds first showed. A bit like your nana 4P, it looked the same. This is a fluke for me.
