I usually find garden centres are good enough for the general run of the mill stuff but if i ever want anything unusual, chilterns seeds never disappoint www.edirectory.co.uk/chilternseeds/

Hello andy, King's seeds have a wonderful catalogue and Plants of Distinction have a brilliant vegetable catalogue with loads of unusual tomatoes and other vegetables

Pam - I've just been reading the new Seeds of Distinction catalogue, what a coincidence!!
Andy - I'm a big fan of unusual or heirloom stuff so I use 'Real Seeds' and 'The Organic Gardening Catalogue' for most of my seeds, but last year I also used Simpsons. I'd rather order something different online than go to a garden centre!!

I bought from Secret Seeds a little while ago. You've reminded me Dee to check whether I could be sowing any of them now, I'm sure there were at least a few I could start in the Autumn

I grew Italian Heirloom tomatoes from them this year some in the greenhouse and the others at the allotment and they have been great.

Hi all, i use mr. f more than any. I did use chiltern but i'm not keen on the lack of info re sowing, as i found with some unusual and 'expensive' seeds. the ordinary seeds i had no probs with. I sow alot of the freebies from the gardening mags, but i always return to mr.f 's.

Hi Geronimo & Welcome to the board. ;D I've had quite good success with Aldi's seed but mostly I order online from Thompson & Morgan, with good results. seeds.thompson-morgan.com/uk/enApart from sweet peas, that is, which I always buy from Matthewman's... www.sweetpeasonline.co.uk/Spruance

Well, I'm very lucky to live near a garden shop which stocks the entire T&M range plus a few specialty ranges - so generally go there. I also find their cultivation instructions clearer than some others. Generally had good results. Have also sown Mr. Fothergill's lettuce and peas - again, pretty good germination results. This spring I bought a couple of packets from Lidl - disasterous! Portuluca failed to germinate at all, ditto Lollo Rosso lettuce, and only 2 Lavatera seeds germinated out of about 20 ... luckily I'd already sown T&M ones. I understand that Portuluca can be tricky, but the lettuce and Lavatera should not be. Will be buying tomato seeds and a few others from Irish Seed Svers (heritage seeds) - as much to support them with the subscription as anything else ;D! ... cheers ...

It doesn't matter what the name is on the packet, the vast majority of seeds come from seed bank firms who have them grown on contract.
I did a check on post codes for certain seed suppliers, strange that several of them had the same Newmarket post code.

Also add those from RHS, sometimes really odd things, those I collect from my garden & swaps, Lidl has some reliable veg seeds too sometimes, but nothing out of the ordinary.
