OH took me to Marks and Sparks yesterday evening (lucky, lucky me!) and on the way out I looked through the flowere and plants area. On the bottom of the staging I noticed some plants that appealed to me - big thick roots topped by leaves and planted in a black ceramic pot with the roots exposed. The label said Ficus Ginseng and marked down from £5.99 to £2.99. I looked the name up and it is Ficus reticulata v. retusa or Banyan fig or pot-belly fig. There are some excellent pictures of it on:- www.collectorscorner.com.au/Bonsai/Ficus%20Retusa.htmIt seems that it should make an excellent house plant and will go well with two Brachychitons that I have growing in Bonsai pots on the bathroom window ledge which faces south.
