I was in the GH yesterday thinking about cleaning it and planning the usual insulation bit for over winter. I'm still full of good toms and peppers though so both jobs are on hold for while. The sides of mine and the staging usually get lined with white polystyrene sheets and I hang a sheet of bubble stuff from the roof and use it like a roller blind, it's up during the day and down at night when it's cold. Wondered what everyone else did in thier GH, bubble sheets, heaters - parafin, electric or gas. Or do you have some other tips What do you poly tunnel folk do ? I have the converted dog kennel which I call the PK (poly kennel) the sides and roof are poly carbonate sheets and it's got racking in it, I could do with some idea for that

Morning Chuckles - We only heat 1 greenhouse through the Winter so invested in a thermostatically controlled electric heater. I much prefer it to paraffin which can cause quite a bit of condensation. Weighing up the cost of running it against how many plants we have in the greenhouse we think it is worth the money. We do have paraffin heaters as a backup though - just in case of a power cut

Many years ago, my father must have done something wrong with the wick on his paraffin heater, because he awoke to find the whole inside of his greenhouse totally covered in black greasy soot. What a dreadful job it was to clean. However, as I only overwinter Fuchsias, a paraffin heater on really cold nights is all i need. I love the smell of it.

I love the smell of parafin too Wee, reminds me of the heaters my Nan had in the house. Whilst clearing the shed out this week I found a lovely big sheet of bubble wrap that fits perfectly on the dividing wire mesh between the poly kennel and dog kennel. It now has all sides covered in for winter, it's not totally sealed all round but will make a good over winter storage area for things that will benefit from being sheltered.
Have some young plants in there and thought I could drape some fleece over the racking if they need extra protection.
