hi everyone. i have a anthurium andreanum and it needs potting on but i was just wandering what compost to use? i would be very grateful for any replies. also i have a peace lily (spathipyllum) and it hasnt flowered in 2 years, i feed it every 2 weeks as it says on the label and i have followed all its instructions, can you tell me where iam going wrong?

We used to pot our Anthuriums into a orchid type compost at work. I'm sure they will more then be happy to go into standard potting compost. I do remember our compost had moss and charcoal incorperated into it.
As for the lilly. They will tolerate a good deal of shade but they will need a bright place if it's to flower. They enjoy good humidity too so a spray or putting it on a wet gravel bed would help. Other than that, unless it needs potting, i really can't think of why it hasn't flowered.

Re-potting is best done in the spring BTW As far as I am aware ordinary house plant compost will be fine for your anthurium How large is your Peace Lily? Peace Lilies need semi-shade in the summer and bright light in the winter, keep the compost moist at all times, but reduce watering in the winter. They don't like cold draughts and IMO most house plants shouldn't be fed in the winter when they aren't growing.

the peace lily is 12inches tall, its on top of a book case next to the french door so it does have access to light thank you again to both of you

BTW your Peace Lily sounds like it is still a baby
