Ok, this is a silly question but it's one I've always wanted to know the answer to.
You know you can buy biological pest controls for your GH such as parasitic wasps that eat whitefly (as seen on the Kew programme tonight). Well...........how do you stop the little buggers from flying straight out the door of your GH and into the wide blue yonder ? I know you can keep the door shut but you can't always do that, especially when it's warm. What's to stop 'em scarpering as soon as you open the packet ?
Feel free to hit me if I'm being more thick than usual.

That's not a silly question. I dunno.......tie their little legs to the plants? Promise them sweeties every Sunday? Put up huge pictures of naked whitefly (on the top shelf though) so they don't see the wide blue yonder? Hmm.....

Maybe they're specially bred homing wasps. Leave 'em in the packet in the GH for a couple of hours then they'll always find their way back there. Like pigeons but without the mess ;D

Actually 4P, pigeons are just aerial versions of rats. Complete and utter disgusting vermin.
Can you start a campaign group........ ;D

You will lose a fair few Andy and it's recommended to continually top them up over a season....however, the theory is that the bug eaters shouldn't ever leave their food scource.

This is true - for example, rats never leave my garden and I PROMISE to leave wood pigeons alone. don't you worry.

I wasn't talking about wood pigeons, just the feral pigeons you see in town centres and such like. They really are disgusting creatures.
Andy - thanks mate. I've often wondered what stops them leaving. They're a bit like me - as long as they have a plentiful supply of food, they won't go far !!

feral pigeons. They really are disgusting creatures. There were a couple either have a big ruck on my deck yesterday. Either that or they were getting friendly ! Don't go much on their courting technique if it was the latter though.

They're still interesting tho...I mean what's it like having to go through life with your head moving synchronously (is that even a word?) with your feet?...like there's a piece of string tying your head to your big toe....
