I've just bought a small Dicksonia Antartica its only about 18"/2ft high (have always wanted 1) and there are no instruction on how to grow it. I have read that some of you on here have them so can anyone give me some tips on how to grow them please. Also should I put it in the GH over winter? and how quick do they grow. I would also like a bamboo plant, I have seen some small ones in the local GC which are in good condition with lots of shoots coming on. Are they easy to grow and how quick do they grow. Thanks for any advice. ;D

Hi Carolann, Tree ferns are brilliant there are a couple of links that might be helpful on the other thread. I notice that Joe Swift has an article in the next GW magazine on planting tree ferns in the GW garden which I am led to believe is far enough North, so you might find some relevant information there.

Thanks jlottie, I love tree ferns and have always wanted one so when I saw that the GC had a few small ones I put them all out on the pathway to inspect (obstruction me nooooo) I pick which one had the most fronds coming and growing on it. It wasnt the biggest but it was the nicest looking plant. Now I want a bamboo plant to go with it. It would be nice to hear how the other ferns on the thread are going, that pic of yours looks fab. Thanks again. Carol. ;D
