Hi all, I have two Daturas currently doing very well in pots. I know that Daturas in pots are hardy in Dublin - a friend has had one for several years - but I was wondering - could one grow it in the open ground in a sunny, sheltered spot? Would that reduce its hardiness (i.e. is the ground colder?). I know this is an ignorant question ... cheers ...

The rule here in Germany and I am assuming (perhaps wrongly) in the UK, that anything in a pot/ tub is far more sensitive than a plant in the ground. Therefore I would cover with fleece when you have something in a pot and when in the ground, perhaps the rest of the Xmas tree branches....... Whatever you decide to do - good luck... RF

Did you know you can take cuttings of Datura? Quite easy to strike them--They are beautiful Flowering plants.

Well, my garden is probably (definitely too small) for any more ... just wish they'd start flowering ;D They are probably as depressed by the perma-rain and cold as I am ... cheers ...
