This iris was a bud for days then all of a sudden it opened... Lovely combo Jas! Some of my old Iris started to flower last week but with the hot weather they were gone in a day x Tig

Thanks for the nom Tig. I think when we have temps like we've had it's really noticeable that a lot of our plants just can't cope even with lots of watering.

Thanks for the nom Jilly. I have to say I didn't realise they were quite so fussy when I bought 2 and plonked them in the borders The lupins are doing just the same as the iris LG - one minute buds, almost the next, bursting into flower.

Here's my Crystal Fountain Fab looking Plocket. I think the differences in some of the plants might be due to the different somposition of soils and weather conditions as well as maybe the age of the plants. I've seen a few now and they're all slightly different. You've got so much more experience with them what do you think i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif

The sun has a great deal to do with the colour of clematis - a lot of them fade dramatically if they get more sun than those in the shade. The photos of Josephine show it well (see the Pink "page"). And a lot of clematis get a greenish tinge if they've had a cold winter, especially like the one we've just had. My Fair Rosamund is a good example of that, but I don't think I've posted a piccy yet. And thank you for the nomination Ladygardener

Snap LG... I grew these from seed last year and remember thinking there was no hope for the sad little brown twisted plants that were left in winter but you said you were sure they would be ok and they are! Angelique, but I can't take any credit for how the plant looks... Crystal Fountain which is just loaded down with flowers this year...

Angelique is your new Clematis is'nt it Jasmine. Crystal Fountain looks brilliant, it's putting on a good show there. I'm delighted to hear your Splish Splash is obviously doing really well for you.

Crystal Fountain which is just loaded down with flowers this year... Lovely and now on my list of things to have... I rather like the Splish Splash as well - how easy is it to grow?? RF

Post by Jasmine on Jun 5, 2010 7:06:09 GMT
Thanks for the nom RF. Do you mean from seed because if so I was despairing over it and Tig came to the rescue with a tough love approach - stick the pots in the fridge for a few weeks and then very soon after they were taken out there were the seedlings. They looked woeful over winter in their pots but LG then came to the rescue and said they should spring back to life - and they did. So I guess not really hard to grow it was just needing to know a few tricks!
