Every November 5th I get concerned about the poor little things being roasted alive A neighbour of mine has a 2 acre vegetable plot - he will soon start piling up his and other people's garden rubbish ready to burn on November 5th knowing that no one will complain about the smoke from his bonfire - his pile is often 8 - 10 foot high - I'm sure most of the local hedgehogs think he has given them the ideal place to hibernate

What a great Idea ;D we have a hedgehog under one of OH`s "projects" a car with suicide doors... v. old and unlikely to be moved as parts are as rare as chicken teeth! I call it Hufflepuff as thats what it sounds like, its rarely seen and Im always glad to hear him/her. My daughter is good with boxes, she brought lots of her projects home from school, she may be able to adapt one for me, (cogswhirringsmiley)

In case you want to feed one in the garden and don't want to use protein for fear of attracting more unwelcome visitors, we caught one in a rabbit cage-trap once, baited with fresh cabbage. It had eaten every scrap while in there.
I've never seen veg mentioned as hedgehog food...
OM.
yes, we let it go.
