Welcome Trunkyjo I wish I'd have inherited a garden like that ;D. Mine was overgrown, neglected and full of things I didn't much care for (like conifers ) I think the yellow flower may be a variety of Rudbeckia Good Luck with your garden GH

Hi TrunkyJo, You must be very chuffed to have inherited such a smashing garden. It is really lovely. I've seen lots of tall yellow flower plants about just recently similar to what you have and I have been keen to find out what they were as I want some. GH, are you sure that's what they are? Someone else said to me they thought they were some sort of Helianthus. I NEED to know! ;D BTW TrunkyJo, if you ask some silly questions too, it saves some of us asking them!! ;D We can then ALL be silly together.

Hello all, I'm new to this gardening lark, fortunately I recently inherited a most beautiful garden which I'm hoping to keep that way so I will probably be a most regular poster asking lots of very silly questions ;D Hi trunkyjo and Welcome to the board! ;D Don't worry about asking questions, we all had to start somewhere. There are some pretty knowledgeable people on here so just fire away and we will try to help you out. By the way, very nice garden! You've made a lot of people very jealous already! ;D Spruance

Welcome trunkyjo. Fab garden, what a great start to have. I think the yellow flowers are the perennial version of helianthus. They are herbaceous and spread quite quickly but are fairly easy to dig up if they get out of hand. I have some at the back of my top border where they do really well. PG

Had a look in the RHS book and a closer look at the photo, perhaps the yellow flowers are either Helianthus x mulitflorus or Helianthus decapetalus, both are perennial sunflowers. Sorry I'm not an expert and I don't have anything like it in my garden either. Might be worth a google to see if anyone can find out for sure!! Don't want Skarloey buying the wrong plant and then blaming me!! ;D GH
