It did start to thaw earlier and drip everywhere but it's not felt cold all day. Not all the ice melted on the tops of the trees it's still there now.
I have a fab photo of a water trough in a field in very cold weather one winter. It had a burst pipe and the effect with the freezing weather was amazing, I'll sort it out and post it on here.

GOOD GRIEF!!!! You've got workmen around your way who work BETWEEN Christmas and New Year? That's unheard of!!!!! I'm not going to hold my breath either Sweetleaf but at least they are looking at starting sooner rather than later - that's only next week after all!!!

Oooo I love frosty cobwebs! Did you know that when a spider moves on it unwinds it's web, injests it and re-uses the threads - clever little things! And if you damage a cobweb a spider won't repair but will re-build from scratch.

I love Winter scenes. Thanks for posting these Chuckles. I must try and take some with my new camera - first winter that I've owned it so hopefully we'll have some nice scenes for me to capture.

Here's a few pics i took at work this morning. Leaf Sedum Euphorbia myrsinites The pond covered in ice. Note the stunning winter bark colour of the orange Salix alba chermasina Cornus alba For the last few weeks, we've been cutting back a large shrubbery that has been left to go rampant for far too long. The bed had a lot of Rubus plus some seriously huge Berberis among other things. Well we've cut the lot back and opened the shrubbery right up. I will spray off the Rubus next summer with roundup and hopefully, next autumn, plant the area up with some more ornate shrubs. Luckily, we're allowed a bonfire to burn the prunings....which has proved a godend not only for the amount of work it's saved us but it's certainly warmed us up this week !!!

Only seen a few cobwebs today, spiders must be on holiday ;D A bit closer it looks jewel likeOne lurking in the hedge bottomIt was quite creepy in the gdn today, lots of crackling and dripping as the ice fell off the trees.Bit closer

Gorgeous photos BusyBee, and you inspired me to pop out this morning and take a few of my own. Lots of cobwebs in our garden, but my photos aren't as good as yours.
