Today is the shortest day. Pretty soon the days will get longer - downhill all the way to Spring. Thinking of Spring is the only way I get through February - my least favourite month of the year! Anyone else feel the same?

Well whether it's today or tomorrow I'm glad that we are now on the up for longer days. I can cope with the dark evenings but it's the miserable dark mornings I don't like. Roll on Spring!!!!! ;D

Always feel relieved when shortest day comes as by Feb see a difference in the daylight lengths and know that we can start looking forward to another growing season!

CC are you ready Bedding plants Salvia Blaze of Fire Petunia Summer Mom Mixed Geranium Fantasy Mixed Delphinium Pacific Giants Mixed Lupin Russell Mixed Hollyhock Excellent! You are going to enjoy yourself! I'll be totally honest as I've not been around much lately and ask if you posted this elsewhere? The annual Salvias and Petunias can be sown as late as you wish subject to temperatures, as they soon come on. The last 3 are slug/snail attracters, so be careful! Even if you have them in what you think is a safe place. I'd be thinking of sowing them late Feb if you want a show this year. The geraniums I suspect are the "annual" pelargoniums? I've sown these as early as late Jan on a windowsill and then taken softwood cuttings off them in May. Sounds fun! I haven't worked out any seed plans here yet, apart from my "tomato experiment".
