What's in bloom for you these days folks? I always like comparing the flow of the season between the UK - and elsewhere - and here in the Toronto area. I know we are behind you folks as far as the flow of the season goes, but I'm sure we also overlap at times. These pics around my garden were taken over the last 2 weeks or so in May and into early June up to this past weekend. The alliums are just about done now. The azaleas are coming to the end of their bloom, but the white/yellow centre azalea is still going strong. The rhodos and the aquilegias are still going strong. The aquilegias in particular have been in bloom for some weeks now. My clems are jjust beginning to open up, and my daphnes are done. My weigelias are going strong. Tulips of course are done. Here's what I'm looking like/have been looking like for the past couple of weeks or so. ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/berflamilyreunion/album?.dir=71cdscd&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//ca.photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos

I'm afraid that's not the right link TT. That one is the main Yahoo photo page. The original problem was that the album in question was set to private rather than public viewing, and also, having just checked back on your previous posts, there appears to be an error in the url. Specifically, the album name appears as BERF LAMILYREUNION, rather than the usual BERFAMILYREUNION. Could we impose on you to try again?

You've cracked it TT! ;D It's working now and very nice photos too. You're probably right about the later season, although just looking at your mix of shrubs and plants, it could equally be an album of an English garden. I particularly like the aquilegias, and also the statuesque alliums. Just one question, how do they all cope with the sub-sero winter temperatures? Thanks for sharing.

Hi Spruance. Winter hardiness is always a consideration when I'm buying plants. That's why I don't have a camellia even though I shed vales of tears every time I see a picture of one posted by any of you guys. It just isn't hardy enough for winter in this area. I would need a sunroom or would have to take it inside each winter, and BH would kick me out of the house if I tried to overwinter a 6ft camellia inside the house. ;D I go by the USDA zoning scheme. I'm in Zone 6/7, so any plant - shrub or perennial, bulb or otherwise that can't handle anything less than a Zone 7 rating, eg like it's a Zone 8, I won't buy it. Even some plants that they rate Zone 7 sometimes can't make the winter, especially some of the new varieties that come on the market without haveing been properly tested before they get a Zone rating.

Hi TT - I am pleased that it has woked now. The photo's are lovely.
We are not as cold as you but are still Zone 7 - I have lost a lot of plants throughout the years because of the cold. Nowadays I am like you and never buy anything that won't stand the winters.

Trini your flowers look glorious! You must be absolutely delighted at how it's developing. Is there any chance of you taking an overview shot though, so we can see where everything is? What clematis is photo no.72 btw?

Hi Plocket. Yes, I'm quite pleased with how the garden is coming along. I'll take a couple of "general" pics so you could see its overall layout. It's essentially the same as last year, but it hasn't quite filled out yet for the season so I just focused in on those spring/pre- summer plants that were in bloom. The clem in 072 is Hakuookan. It's a bit interesting in that it is described as being violet/purple in colour, but depending on the time of day/how the light hits it, it can look more "purple" than "violet" or vice versa. I'll post a couple more pics of it over the weekend to show what I mean. The other one - 069 - is multi blue. I'm beginning to think it wasn't labelled correctly, because multi blue is described on the Clematis On The Web as being double flowered. This is its first year blooming so maybe it will eventually start producing doubles. A couple of my other clems are also about to bloom for the first time since I put them in last season.
How was your hols in Scotland? Hope it was grand.

You're an angel! I look forward to seeing the photos Trini. Well Hakuookan is scrummy but I understand what you mean about colours and the time of day - the blooms can change quite dramatically can't they? Multiblue should be double flowered so perhaps we (you!!!) should do a bit of research. Scotland was brief but certainly grand. I posted a link with a few piccies if you are interested - on the general board I think. Let me know if you need the link!!! Px
