They are fantastic! I saw some mini ones in pots for sale in the supermarket a while back on special offer and OH turned his nose up at them. I was most upset and didn't get them in the end. I wish I had!

Hello Plocket, long time no hear (from me, that is!) lovely photos. I assume you started them off in pots yourself, did ya? I guerilla gardened about 100 SF in May near where I live, about 10 came up. One is looking to be super big and strong, already 4'+ already. Haven't fed them much, so it may flower before 6'. I found this great site, UK based, www.guerillagardening.org. I think it's great, it's a site just after my own heart! I saw some crocosmias today that I hadn't noticed in months, they are a shocking orange. I'm pleased they're doing so well. I walk there every day, with Dutch, I don't know how I missed them till now. talk to you again soon. C.

Hia C how lovely to hear from you Yes I started the sunflowers off in pots - or rather LP did. The guerilla gardening is such a fab idea and I've read quite a bit about it - I'm so glad most people get away with it. Anyway your sunflowers - they are yet another delicious morsel for slugs so many more probably germinated but got munched. You'd probably need to put crushed eggshells over where you sow the seeds so they keep off most of the slugs after germination. We had four in LP's garden, all grown in pots first, and two were still destroyed slugs even though they were over 1ft tall when we planted them. The second should probably flower soon. Neither are particularly tall because they don't get enough sun, but at least they are cheerful I hope you are keeping well C - talk soon! Px
