Don't think I haven't thought about it RM But they're on a no-stopping bit of dual carriageway, down a steep bank. Are you joining SO and me in the Diggit garden RM? She's got a big jug of Pimms there, or I'll buy whatever you would like. <snigger-smiley> ( there's nobody serving to take the money!) ;D

Yeah they self seed for me pretty handily. And for Barbara, they are bienniels so it takes 2 years to get a blossom, (doesn't it, everyone else???) or have I got Honesty on the brain?

Sow them NOW (or in the next month) and they'll flower next year. I have just sown some seeds and they germinated in 2 days in a shady bit of my GH. The thatched cottages in the main street of my nearest village has Hollyhocks flowering in every garden at the moment - they look wonderful.

Sorry Beanie I don't know the name of any of them I'm afraid RM you reminded me that I have a Black one that I bought this year, it's in pot atm. I got 2 when they where on offer in Woolies, one did bite the dust though. I find the slugs and snails devour them when the young growth starts to appear unless you take action Ooooh 4P thatched cottages and Hollyhock, heaven

Thats a fab Hollyhock GH, it sort of reminds me of the brides mother all dressed up for her daughters wedding Your two are lovely too JW the centre on the single ones are always so individual looking and the petals are so fine. Where as the doubles like Tig, GH and you have are so lush looking. Think I must have my soppy head on tonight, probably time I went to bed

Yes, it certainly is jw. Gives you loads of ideas doesn't it for all sorts of lovely stuff. I especially love the creamy one above and would love to try that one. Have sown some this year for next year and all have come up but have no idea what colours I'll get (if they make it that far!!!).
