can definitely 'smell' autumn from those pics owdboggy. They're just lovely, and very 'calming'.

Lovely picture OB, I think it is the only thing that I like about Autumn. - The beautiful colours of the trees before winter sets in. Where is Bodant BTW.?

I LOVE Bodnant. Been there twice in May and seen the Laburnum arches in flower. I think it's one of the best, most diverse, gardens I've ever been to....shame it's in Wales (not that there's anything wrong with Wales, it's just so far away....and has anyone noticed how travelling South/North os OK but travelling East/West leaves a lot to be desired?)

Just visited Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin, near Dublin. We just had time to whiz round for half an hour before a big family gathering for lunch! Photo of me on a bench with another beautiful woman, just to prove I was there, LOL PJ

What a shame you had to rush round PJ - looks like a pleasant place for a leisurely stroll.
I see you were in your best purple outfit ;D x Tig

Thanks Tig - I would love to have spent more time there. OH brother lives close by so I will return soon. LNG and Shrub - it was a fabulous tree and I knew I would have to remember the name. Soooo I took a photo of the plaque on the tree trunk especially for all you interested gardeners on this messageboard. Here it is PJ

We went back to Bodnant on Saturday. It was still beautiful, but not as good and they have started the winter work so much of it was roped off. Close now so spring with the Camellias is next!

The trunk looked almost too good to be true - it looked and felt a bit like vinyl.

Lovley Dutchy, The middle pic of mine has an oak its still very green its the tree on the right. Last year we had loads of oakcorns but hardly any at all this year and most of the trees had what I would call mould growing on almost all of the leaves. The Valley where I live was once called Oakenden during the times of the Knight Templers meaning Valley of Oaks but the name has changed now.

I feel that I really have to go to Bodnant when I am in the UK again, wow. Hi carolann, things change over the centuries. Your area probably went for growing veg or cattle either way you lose the oaks. They are beautifull trees but the leaves are a pain to get rid of after they have fallen. I do love them though.
