last one for to-day the oldest magnolia grandiflora, outside my bedroom window, smells heavenly in the evenings. gardening lodgers are sooooo welcome

Stunning Sandra, I just love the style of French houses. That aubergine colour looks fab on that pergola, not a colour I would have thought of using, live and learn Must dash, need to check out flights and times, Shrub & LNG I'l bung the flights on my card and we can sort the cost later ;D

the 1st photo is the north side of the chateau, the 2nd looking out east, i think it was the morning room, there was stained glass in the fan, red, purple & yellow. the third is not a greenhouse but a bird cage, to the right is where the greenhouse and animal cemetery were. keep finding things, there's a lake down the hill, needs JCB. feudal village for over 700yrs. chateau carresse. really want to plant vines." tursan" is a local wine. try the rose........

there is plenty space to camp and very cheap flights to pau & biarritz from easy jet and ryan air. the pyrenees atlantique is fab area, there are some seriously aged gardens here, the mountains and over 200kms of golden beaches. spoilt rotten, forgive me.......

there is romance. napoleons brother was the gigolo/tart of the marquise de montehermeso, lived here for years, goya painted her, she lived longer than her daughter, married at 15, spanish, her husband was much older, he died when she was young, she remarried soldier of napoleon,contemporary, she has been planted up the road, spanish descendent...... have taken over duties

Beautiful place Sandra you are so lucky. Would love to see some more pics of the house and garden please. Is it one of those properties that you can put your own stamp on house wise? I love old French houses they have lots of character
