Well I must be slightly colour blind because the word was orange but the colour was red so I clicked on red and it said wrong :-(
Took me about 3 attempts to get the first one right but after that I was on a roll!

It's not uncommon in women Actually... my dad is colour blind at the blue end of the spectrum. However, women have a much lower chance of being colour blind due the fact that we have XX chromosomes and men have XY. The "recessive" faulty colour gene is located on the X chromosome so if a woman has 1 faulty gene then the gene on the other X can be used instead. The man doesn't have the opposing gene on the Y chromosome so if there is a faulty gene on the X, he will be colour blind. A woman will be only be colour blind if both parents have passed on the gene. See, I did learn summet in Human Biology A Level! <thinks about copying and pasting this and sending it to her tutor so she doesn't think all is lost!>

Sorry :-( I just find it all really fascinating. Probably why I decided to study it. Not that I've done anything with the qualification yet apart from pub quizzes....

Eldest daughter was concerned about OH brain (or lack of it) so she bought a game boy with the brain game Chris Tarrant advertises for us both for christmas. As she was so concerned she insisted he had it early. Not worried about me as I do the Countdown game & Sudoku. Well it was like the colour game. OH was pleased. His brain age was 6yrs less tha his actual age. I thought great I'll show him. Oops how wrong can you be. My actual age is 57. My brain age shhhh. Don't tell anyone. It was 80. I thought I had better do it again just to check. Again 80. OH read the instructions & you can only check your age once a day. Everyone thinks it's really funny. We picked up one of the GC from school the other day. First question GD how old is your brain. GM how old is your brain. Do you think I will ever live it down? Janet.

About 4 in every hundred men are either colour blind or have some kind of defect when it comes to colour vision (I include myself in this - I have a red/green colour vision problem which makes it difficult for me to tell certain colours apart (snooker is a bloody nightmare !!)) whereas it's more like 1 in every 1000 women.
