Sister Barbara sat by the window at her convent to read the letter sent from home. Inside were two £50 pound notes from her parents. She smiled at the gesture and as she read the letter she noticed a shabbily dressed man on the street leaning against a lamppost. Quickly she wrote: "don't despair. Sister Barbara," on a piece of paper, wrapped the £100 inside it,got the man's attention and tossed it out the window to him. The stranger picked it up and went off down the street. The next day, Sister Barbara was told a man wanted to see him urgently. When she went out the man gave her a big wad of money,"whats this"? she asked. "Thats £8000, Sister," he replied "Don't despair came in at 80-to-1.
