I called into Wilkinsons this morning for the first time in a while. Good timing or what?..... All Wilko seeds, Buy 2 packets get the cheapest free. Planters, like I use for my GH tomatoes, 2 for the price of one, so that's 75 pence each. What Wilkos describe as 'breeding pots', but what appear to be just 8cm black plastic pots... 72 for 99 pence (I bought 3 packs). Cells trays 3 for 89 pence. It is perhaps just as well that I walked up town, otherwise it could have been rather expensive. ;D So if you want some cheap seeds and/or garden sundries, have a look in your local branch of Wilkinsons.

I got some baby plants for my bottle garden from Wilkinson's, 70p each. Also a banana plant for a fiver...GOSH! . BUT.....they have the spikey fan palm...?humilis? in there for just £5.99....exactly the same size as the one I spent £20 on from a GC last summer... They have some pheonix palms for the same price that I'm rather tempted by....at that price you can't afford NOT to buy them!

I'm just wondering what else I can sneak into the conservatory without OH noticing ;D. I may well find myself in Wilkos tomorrow on my way home from work....I may well purchase the pheonix AND the humilis......I'll be everso popular on the bus home ;D

Very impressed with Wilko, my water butts arrived today (ordered online on Sunday) and my garden arches are going to be held up for a week or so, and I had 2 telephone calls, one to let me know there was a delay and the other to tell me of the new delivery date.

WAHAY! I went into Wilkinsoins and got a MINORMOUS huge great pheonix palm for £6.99. The same size I saw on Monday for £19.99 elsewhere!... The journey home on the (crowded) bus was interesting...the palm's OK but I think a few other passengers got poked by the fronds ;D everybody was smiling tho at this fat middle aged woman peering sheepishly out from under the mass of foliage... BARGAIN! CPBxxx

Got some of those breeding pots for 99p - 72 of em. I saw them in someones allotment thread. Quite a bargain and possibly re-usable with some care. They are "PE" which is one of the very few plastics the council will recycle so if they do fall apart they will be made into something else.
I stop short of buying plants for outside from Wilkos as the plants will have been on the shelves inside for a while, possibly therefore not the healthiest. Anyone had any bother with the plants?

Hope you enjoy your garden arch as much as I have enjoyed mine. It has finally given up the ghost this winter, But since I only paid £6.99 over ten years ago ( from Wilkinson's), I don,t think it owes me anything. Have managed to get a replacement from B&Q in the sale...... this only cost £3.99 !!! Now all I have to do is untangle all the honeysuckle and clematis from the falling apart old one and put the new one up. Times like this when i wish I wasn't on my own.....I think it will take more than 2 hands to do it.

They look flimsy, but I have some 3 year old ones. In fact I have many hundreds of them. I like the way you can squash them in Wilko's gravel trays (seed trays without holes so you can water your seedlings from underneath). I like the way they stack. You can jump up and down on them and they will not split. I love Wilkos full stop, just that the nearest store is half an hour away

Missed the breeding pots will have to have another look. My garden arches arrived at the weekend, it took me ages to put one together but I think I have got the hang of it now. The online service is great ;D

Have purchased a few bits from Wilkinsons, most recently some Hosta's. They are fine as long as you give them a good soak overnight before planting
