I have never bought plants as bare root plants. Is there more to the planting of these than pot-grown plants? Do they have any special needs once planted?
Sorry ... silly questions, I know, but it's something I am totally unfamiliar with and don't want to get it wrong.
Thank you!

It's a bit muckier than planting from containers but not difficult marble. Have you bought them yet? My supplier recommends soaking them first in a mix of garden soil and water -it's called "praline" in French -overnight at least but they can keep for longer like that if you're not ready to plant out. The important thing is not to let the roots dry out. Then when you come to plant, trim off any bits which don't look healthy. Try to work out which way round the shoots are so you put them in the right way up -sometimes not obvious and then plant. Give 'em a big drink and keep them well watered for the first few weeks. Oh, and mark where you've planted them because depending on the plant you may not see any growth until next spring!

Thanks for that! Just what I needed ... an idiot guide to bare root planting.
