Somebody gave me a catalogue for gardeningdirect.com at the weekend. Their prices appear to be extremely reasonable, with no P&P on most things. I wonder if anybody else has ordered from this company and what you thought of their service, and the quality of plants provided.
Thank you.

No - I haven't used them, so I can't comment - I use Thompson and Morgan, Suttons and IMO the best of all Crocus

Thanks for that. I've ordered from Crocus and I was really impressed - nice to see a thumbs up from someone else!
As I have such a huge amount of garden left to plant, it was the price that was attracting me to Gardeningdirect.com ...

I've only ever used T&M and Crocus, and Crocus are wonderful. Not cheap, but brilliant plants, and really helpful too with queries.

I've used J Parkers and their prices are alright. I only used them once due to lack of funds and after the lavenders I don't know whether I can recommend them or not. The other items they sent were excellent value for money and arrived ok.

I've had great plants from both Crocus and Buckingham Nurseries. The prices for young trees and shrubs from Buckingham Nurseries are excellent. And they are so well packaged, somestimes it would need an escapologist to unwrap them, they are so carefully done up.

I'm sure it was Buckingham Nurseries where we bought some blackthorn for hedging - I must agree they were very good too

I've just received some bulbs from Parkers and they are excellent (which reminds me, I must try and get them planted before I go on holiday.......). I've heard that Hidden House Bulbs are also excellent, offering things in top condition and at very reasonable prices. Ok Dee ? FA x

I'll report on HHB when I get my order - shouldn't be too long now!!!!! They'll be in the post on Monday, Plocket. - busy at the moment making up boxes, printing off growing guides, and trying to write the newsletter. I admit they should have gone out yesterday (only post Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as I don't want them sitting in the post office over a weekend), but I've had a couple of days off this week celibrating - then recovering from it

I've used Claire Austin, Woottens of Wenhaston and Four Seasons Perennials for mail order plants. All have provided a great service and have sent healthy, well packaged plants, I'd recommend all of them if your looking for perennials. I've also had fabulous Tulips from Bloms, which I pre-ordered at Chelsea Flower Show, that way I got some free so I didn't feel like I was spending so much!! Sorry I can't comment on gardeningdirect.com

I use Scotts Nurseries in Merriott and Cotswold Garden Flowers for mail order. Their service is very good. I've also bought very young shrubs from Glenville Nurseries - they grow more quickly than you'd think - worth considering if you're on a tight budget and don't need instant results.

oooh the hiddenhousebulbs? I had sneaky peek earlier between planting <G>
Shame I'm severely lacking in funds at the moment otherwise I'd have been spending on plants that have nowhere to live...
