These were about £1 for 50...I used to use them for the children's dinner money as well.. ;D OH thinks it's all a bit obsessive...but my seeds are precious...

I buy certain brands of yoghurt for LP so that I get pots with re-usable lids!!! WHSmith do the dinner money envelopes fairly reasonbly priced but then I found out that LPs school are fussy and want pre-printed envelopes - thankfully they gave me the first batch.

You're right LL. I always have a sneaky look t skips now. I pinched (sorry, borrowed) a couple of floor boards last year which are excellent for standing on between rows.

The skip company would have burned them, and added to the pollution Mick, you did the right thing. BTW did you know that the minute you put something in a skip it belongs to the skip company? That means even if you ask permisssion from those that are filling it, in law you are still stealing? NUTS! In practice though, they arent interested in bits of wood.

Who told you that? I would dispute it. If I hire a skip and have it placed on my property, and then fill it.While it is on my propperty the contents are mine. And I'd give any skip owner a punch on the nose who argued otherwise.

eerm.....oh dear, the BIL I no longer speak to, he worked for a skip company, and they rummaged every skip for valuable recyclables, once he said they found an opal jewelry set still in the box. I dont speak to him because hes dishonest (and an obnoxious, violentdrunk)

I'm with Sleepy - if you rent a skip and fill it with your stuff surely it's yours until you've asked for it to be removed?

they rummaged every skip for valuable recyclables, once he said they found an opal jewelry set still in the box. It's quite a lucrative business, i used to work with someone who ran a Skip Hire company, they sifted through all the house clearance, garage clearance and gdn clearance stuff, the things she used to tell me they'd found was amazing. Got loads of stuff for her gdn. I would have had a field day, OH calls me a squirel now i would need a warehouse to keep everything in if I was in that line of business ;D

I'd love to have the space to be a hoarder! I have to regularly have clear-outs because stuff accumulates and I haven't room for newer stuff. My friend has a skip outside her house at the moment and I had a good nose as I walked past today. There were a couple of battered old kitchen units which I thought would make good plants for LP, but dad's on that case at the moment.

Supposed to be. What's the betting that it will be back on again by May if the rain eases off?

I was looking on our water co. website last night and they have no plans for lifting our ban at the moment. It said they need about 5 months of above average rainfall for that to happen. Amazing some of the bonuses the MD's etc. seem to have got, considering a lot of us have had to restrict how much water we have been using. All about profits and not about the service IMO.

Well it just goes to show how well informed their website is! The ban has been lifted. I'll get off my soapbox now/ ;D
Not that the garden needs a housepipe anyway at the moment, but it's reassuring to know things are looking a bit more normal.

I have just been into the garden to see if things had been damaged and my large standard rose has been having problems in the night. I saw this morning that it was leaning a bit - well the wood has gone and the steel pipe that actually was holding it up has leaned over - we have just put another in to see if we can get it over the winter and decide what to do in the spring. I would so hate to lose it. Rosefriend

Mine were flowering in early February last year. Are you worried that they are flowering Trunky? I wouldn't - they are tough little whatsits and even if we get some heavy snow and cold weather they should be fine.

Hello everyone, sorry for barging in un-announced ;D
I have some snowdrops in flower but they need splitting up as the flowering is diminishing each year.
My 'January Gold' Daffs are flowering and I have some Cyclamen coum flowering at the base of my cherry tree.
Considering how mild it's been I'm surprised none of my crocuses are up yet.

Ah but the link is for 50 plug plants Pam! Actually I'm quite pleased because I looked at a few links before posting that one, and I got mine cheaper than the ones online! I'm not sure where I'm going to plant it but it's rather lovely!!!
