Does anyone know the correct way to set up a sonic pulse thingy for scaring moles, the one I've there was no proper instructions with it, I did have the wee rattle end down into the ground but now have it at the top and can actually hear it working, which is the correct way to have it. Please help if you can. CB

I can't work out what you mean by the wee rattle Cb! The ones we had were like missiles, a metal tube to put the batteries in and a top like a nailhead. The instructions said to bury the whole metal part in the soil at the entrance to a tunnel, just leaving the head on the surface. Although they vibrated they didn't do any good and the moles just went to another part of the garden! I kept tripping up them too.

Ye my one seems pretty useless as well, the wee criter is still hanging around The one I've got the battery housing slides out and there a wee disc that vibrates, but it can go in either way I just don't know which is best.

Have you tried shoving a hose in its tunnels and letting them fill up? I know someone who swears it works every time for him. Personally I've never found anything that stops them!

Have tried the hose pipe when the wee bugger had the cheek to burrow up right next to the sonic repeller half covering the top of it as he did so, but I think he is still hanging out. Maybe a gallon of petrol and a match might do the trick or a stick of dynamite. I wouldn't normally bother but I fear for the roots of all my hard work. There is an awfull lot of worms in our ground so I think we'll have these wee buggers for years.

This is what you need CB www.moleblaster.com/consumers/demo.html "Dyanamite" included. It's French name is détaupeur and I have been using one with very satisfying results for a few years now. Google détaupeur for suppliers if the English language site fails you.

They're back! After the rain this weekend the hills have reappeared. I'm interested in your gadget, Obs, haven't seen that here. It looks like jsut the sort of toy the OH wouldn't mind playing with. He claims he's "depressed" when he sees molehills. You don't get bits of dismembered mole flying around, do you? It does look unfortunately like a tampon on the demo, that thing they put in the tunnel!

Toonia - I get mine in the local pet and garden shop. Google "détaupeur" and you should find suppliers near you. The little tampon thing is an explosive charge which has blown holes in my trousers - I'm a lot more careful now. The mole is left in the tunnel to create compost. You know he's dead because the arm has moved to "off" and you can see earth in the hole. Don't pull out the dooberry if the arm is not "off". You could get a surprise. Switch it off and check the batteries are still good.
It makes a very satisfying bang should you be in the vicinity when moley meets his doom. If you do get one, buy extra charges at the same time. There are only 2 provided in the box and round here moles tend to come in waves of 3 so we always have a spare pack on hand - until today when a 4th one visited and I found we'd run out. I'll just have to get him tomorrow.

Well, we checked out Obby's weblink and found that the moleblaster was stocked by a chain of shops we actually have in Aurillac! They're back, by the way, we have several incursions and they're heading for the flower beds. They had the model Obby recommended and boxes of refills of the charges. This is an event, to go into a shop looking for something specific and they have it!! Anyway, we got chatting to an assistant and he said although the moleblaster was good, there was a new one which was better -made by Caussade which specialises in beastie elimination. The improvement, apparently, is there is a warning light which lights up when the charge has gone off which would prevent involuntary amputation if you peek to see before detonation has happened with the moleblaster. And it was cheaper. We got that one after dithering on my part and threats that we would be back if it didn't work. It also fits closer to the ground and will be easier to protect from possible Pongster interventions. I will keep you posted!

Have fun Toonia. After blasting holes in trousers I now treat my machine with respect. So do the pussies. It only takes one curious swipe with a paw to teach feline's not to mess with it - no damage. Just a scare. The local shop was out of stock of spare charges when I went and we now have 2 moles running amok in the back and side lawns. However, new stocks should arrive tomorrow and I have the batteries on charge.
Don't you just love the little video clip on the website? NOthing like that when I bought mine. I juts had to take chappy's word. Glad I did.

The WMD installed! The OH was still worried that the Pongster would stick his nose in so I suggested an obelisk ...of course! OH was still not happy so wrapped chickenwire round it, which resulted in an injury and copious bleeding...remind you of anyone, Rosefriend?

Silly OH. I said it had to be treated with respect. Hope he's OK. Mine is installed and ready to go with new batteries for a good bang.
