Got my tickets today to go and see AT at Chichester Festival Theatre. This is what I read about the evening:
Alan Titchmarsh, much-loved gardening guru and long-time supporter of Chichester Festival Theatre, will be performing his new one man show in aid of our Education and Rehearsal Centre Appeal.
Alan is a wonderfully charismatic raconteur with many witty anecdotes about his life as a gardener, presenter and best-selling author. He adds a sprinkling of seasonal humour to stories about his life both on and off screen.
However, I have just read an article in the local paper and it seems there is no end to this mans talents as he will also be SINGING!!!
OMG! One way or another, I think this is going to be a memorable evening! ;D

I think you will have a really great evening if his books and articles are anything to go by. I met AT at chelsea a couple of years ago and the impression I got was "what you see is what you get" - very pleasant and natural - when is he at Chichester - i only live ten miles away and might try to go myself!

Hi BB, He's there on the 17th November just for one night hang on, I'll get the link..... www.cft.org.uk/cft-productions_details.asp?pid=4410 miles from Chichester? That's probably 6 miles from me then! I'm taking MIL as it's her birthday on the 17th. There are a few tickets left but I think you may have to hurry.

I'll be sure to post a full report when I get back. He's going to meet the audience after too. I wonder if I'll be able to talk to him this time or just turn pathetic again! ;D

... Alan Titchmarsh must be raking it in. Got the Suttons seed catalogue yesterday - he has his 'own' range of seeds, including organic vegetable seeds which he personally attests to. Er ... forgive my cynicism, but do these celebrities - gardinening or otherwise - actually personally test all the products they endorse? Just an aside - but hope you have a great time, Skarloey ... cheers ...

Now then Skarloey, Mr T is certainly a busy man as he was doing a 'gig' in York Minster last thursday...I'm not sure if it was garden related or a Minster fund raising thing, it was just titled An Evening with Alan Titchmarsh, and the tickets were £25 - I'd have paid that if he'd have come and helped out at the allotment ;D
Perhaps he got some singing practice in with the Minster Choir... ;D

Hi GH, he was doing an evening in York about his memoirs and raising money for the Minsters east front restoration fund.... No, I'm not that sad and just knew, I googled!!! ;D The evening he is doing in Chichester is also for fund raising for a rehearsal room or something at the festival theatre. Pam, don't 'spose you still have the picture/catalogue do you?

I know the Minster need alot of cash for the renovation, so I suppose they did well to get Mr T!! Back in the summer the new(ish) bishop decided to screen a film on the East Front!!!

Hi BB, 4 miles west of Chichester on the coast. OH is the diehard fan and to coin a Gardenhammerette phrase, I'm more of a fan through 'The osmosis effect'! I have been to matches but quite frankly, I'm miserable when I'm cold, I'm miserable when I'm wet and when I'm cold AND wet...... pure evil! ;D Did you manage to get any tickets to see Mr T?

Skarloey Don't be telling everyone about 'the osmosis effect', it's my secret weapon when talking about car engines, especially if I mention V8!!! ;D Anyhow, back to the subject of footie - to avoid being cold at a match you have to wear a pair of tights under your jeans and 2 pairs of socks (and hope the fashion police aren't about!!), and make sure you keep warm by flinging your arms around and gesticulating at the away fans!!! I also find Yorkie bars are for girls at half time (although the packaging says otherwise!!!)

See, that's another thing...... I went to a match with my very placid MIL once, I'm not joking she turned into a hooligan!! ;D ;D I have to say though that it sounds great when everyone sings and lets face it, Pompey fans sing!
Errrr, GH..........TIGHTS!!!!!!! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

My son took his family to a match last saturday.........there was a minutes silence for armistice day, and when that was over the crowd started to roar.........my grandaughter (30 said to her mum I would like another minutes silence now mummy and my grandson (2) said HOME NOW !! (they did leave at half time, but I was thrilled I got more time with my grandchildren before they went to bed.

Hi all, Went to see Merry Titchmarsh last night and I have to say, it was really good. Some of it had us rolling around, crying with laughing, some more serious but all in all a great evening. It was mainly anecdotal and a lot of it came from his book 'Fill My Stocking' but he had a chum on a piano and a couple of silly songs were sung but it wasn't too cringable at all really. MIL had a wonderful time (it was her birthday too) and she laughed for nearly 3 hours! Really good to see. I also bought her his latest book and got it signed for her with a happy birthday message. I think she liked it! ;D
