I went to Wisley on Sunday for the first time for 45 years. The crowds and my daughter in law were a bit off putting but the place is so lovely. I did enjoy the tropical borders and small designer gardens but was disappointed by the prairie planting, it looks so much better round here, the extreme heat perhaps. Shame about the roses though.

Gert, I didn't see you! As people probably know, we're regulars there - a quick nip down the A3 & hey presto. It does get very crowded on nice summer weekends but it's not usually too bad inside - we do try to get there early. Didn't get to the prairie planting this time. I usually love it apart from the wide straight grass path down the middle. I would like to be able to meander through the planting. Did you see the grasses near the restaurant? They looked terrific. I've nicked some of Mr beejay's photos that he took on Sunday - the last 4 are from August & I think were from the prairie planting. s29.photobucket.com/albums/c273/beejaytee/phils%20wisley%20sep%202006/Sorry, he does tend to take close up piccies most of the time so you don't see large areas.

I've had great computer problems after a thunder storm so just able to read the thread again, yes the grasses were fantastic, my son has just moved near to Wisley & has inherited a large totally empty garden so we were looking at that bed with great interest. I still have to work out the sharing of photos, I'll get there one day.
