When tidying up our garden I put the cuttings and weeds and branches into a garden cart. Often there is more garden "stuff" than can fit into the cart at one time.
As I am a lazy person ... I have found that strapping a bungee cord across the top of the pile of garden refuse keeps things from falling out of the cart as I make my way to the compost pile.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday I brought inside 110 pots of tender or tropical plants that would die in our winters outside. (There are more to come inside but this is a start.) I was placing the plants where they are to live inside during the winter months and gave one of them too much water. The water was at the top of the saucer and would over flow rapidly!
I got out the spray bottle and took the sprayer part out and inserted that into the saucer and started spraying / pumping the excess water from the saucer. I just sprayed the water back into the bottle from the sprayer. This saved me from having a very wet carpet and having to shift a huge planter. ;D
I was so proud! (Doesn't take much does it?)
Anyone else have some tips for inside or outside gardening?

two for you:
1) can't remember (sorry) who first aired this on these boards, but it's sooo obvious when you think about it... for about 300 years I've fumbled about looking for runners grown conventionally on canes and always missed some - spoils cropping, don't want all that seed, etc so... grow them over a "rose arch" and enjoy walk-through harvesting!
2) this could be one of those threads "with legs" and it will be moving to Gardening Chat in about a week - be sure to follow it there and re-bookmark!!

A 110 pots? ? Now I need a tip on how you store such a "small" number of pots. Dutchy. Well ....... First you need to vacuum the carpet in the home and then place a clean tarp or plastic sheet to cover a large area. You then start bringing in the pots and placing them on the tarp. Soon it will look similar to this scene from last year... After you have recovered from all that work you can take your time to leisurely water and place the plants where you would like them to stay over the long winter months ..... and ...... and near the front entry way. At first it looks like a disaster ... and it is ... But eventually it isn't so bad. ~~SIGH~~ No greenhouse here although it would make things so much easier! There are still at least 20 pots on the breezeway and another 25-30 plants outside that need to come in. My goal is to do that by this weekend! At least that is what my mind says. If the body is willing is another matter! ;D C with 3 Ds and many plants!

OMG. You deserve a Gold Medal( Gold Medal, yellow is definitely not a good colour for writing on this board) C3D. I was thinking about getting a wider windowsill in the spare bedroom to house some cuttings and have a place for my early seedlings but your place.......... I hope you will have great fun with your indoor jungle. May they all thrive.

Hi Dutchy and OM! It is an undertaking in insanity I believe at the moment but once it is done it should look OK. I have about 1/4 of the indoor plant population in place now. I'm waiting to see a toad hop across the carpet but haven't seen one yet. There is still time. LOL! My OH is coming back home Thursday so I'm really trying to make the place look like someone actually lives here before he returns. I need to bring in the largest planters today. If you don't hear from me by tonight you will know I either broke down and was taken to the curb or I was squished under a planter and have as yet gone unnoticed. C3D
