Hi
Can anyone recommend a good mobile phone ? I'm about to change mine but I'm not sure what to go for.
I've had mine 18 months and the contract has expired so I can change to whatever I like. If anyone has anything good or bad to say about theirs, I'd appreciate it. The one I have at the moment is a flip up type one but I'm not fussed about what it looks like, just as long as it's got the up to date features on it.
Cheers FA x

To be honest, I wouldn't use mine apart from the fact that I get loads of free minutes & texts every month. I always think they're worth having, even if it's kept just for emergencies. For example, the other day, I was out in my car miles from anywhere and got a puncture. I rang the AA from my mobile and they were there quicker than I could have walked to the nearest place with a phone.
Doesn't your OH worry about you travelling to/from work on the cold winter mornings/evenings ? Mrs FA has a cheap pay-as-you-go, just in case she's ever out anywhere and has an emergency with the kids.

I've had several flip phones, several makes, my last one was a Motorola Razor/V3 got sucked in by the Ads, easy to navigate but lots of flashy functions that I didn't use. Worst thing about it for me was the keys were not easy to read. Now have a Sony Ericsson Z530i It's a flip, nice and light, easy to navigate, long battery life, camera, video, bluetooth, infrared. Text alert tones not very loud, need to have it on fibrate aswell . OH has a Samsung sgh z14v flip, same funtions as mine, he has no dislikes about it. If you want a simple no nonsense basic flip I think Nokia do one.

Just remembered something my sister said the other day, she is with NTL and they offered her 2 free mobiles with I think it was 300 txt and 300 minutes for £10 a month with Virgin. It's a flip phone but not a make I've heard of, has a camera but no Bluetooth. May be worth checking out if your with NTL.

What ever you choose Andy don't go for a Motorola - I have the same one as BB mentioned - battery life is crap and doesn't do half the things my old Nokia did. Dont think you can go wrong with a Sony.

Just to add to this thread, I've managed to negotiate myself a deal with Vodafone. I decided on a Sony Ericsson K800i phone and called Vodafone to see if they would upgrade me for free. They wouldn't and wanted £100 for the phone. I declined their "kind" offer and had a trawl round the internet. O2 are offering that phone free of charge on virtually the same contract I have now. I called Vodafone back and asked for my PUK (or is it PAK ?) number - the number that enables you to move network and take your number with you. When they asked why I was proposing to leave Vodafone, I said that I could get the phone I wanted free of charge elsewhere. Lo & behold, Vodafone are now able to offer me the phone free of charge, provided I sign another 18 month contract on the same terms I'm on now.
Amazing what a difference half an hour and a request to leave their company can do to change their mind. My advice to anyone thinking about upgrading their phone is to threaten to leave the network you're with - they'll give you virtually anything you want to keep you.

FA x It is amazing Andy, and if you drag the converation on for long enough "Yknow I cant seem to make up my mind, the other company offered INCENTIVES " you can end up with a free bluetoooth headset and six months half price rental...and 100 extra messages! Oh, and of course free delivery on a Nokia 6280 slide phone with memory card and 2megapixel camera.
