I've coveted these flowers ever since I saw them at GWLive planted with Chocolate Cosmos against a Carex Grass of some kind - absolutely gorgeous combination. I tried the " put them in a fridge" thing last Spring and the pot of seeds have just sat laughing at me ever since - I imagine the seeds have long since rotted away! I'm not giving up though! Got another packet of seeds yesterday and this time I shall try to ape nature and put the seeds outside for the winter to see if that works. Anybody got any tips to help? I REALLY want to grow this plant from seed....

These are one of my top favourites 4PG - I grew two plants, one a Ruby Glow, against grasses and daisies and they have multiplied rapidly - do you think I should split them now or leave well alone am not sure even if they are an annual A truly pretty delicate flower - good luck with the seeds

I think they are perennial Jenny. You lucky thing! If the clumps are fairly big and healthy looking I should be inclined to split them - you just couldn't have enough of them really! I had some of the white Astrantias in my flower garden but it's so overgrown at the moment I'm not sure if they've survived - I doubt it somehow as they probably fried in the extreme heat...my soil is not really suitable and I don't usually grow against the proper conditions with plants but it's such a beautiful plant I think it's worth the extra effort.

It's annoying isn't it?? Unless you have a plant how can you get ripe seeds? How can you get a plant unless the seeds germinate?? Buy one? Don't be daft.........! Well, not until I have one more go.....
