I haven't seen this yet as I had to watch the last episode of The State Within to find out what the hell was going on! I've taped it though so that'll be tomorrow's viewing. I have personal experience of what a nice genuine bloke Monty is so I've no doubt he is really sincere about this venture. I don't understand what people have against him.

I've not seen the programme yet but I've read some stuff about the project. It sounds like a great project to me and whether people like Monty or not, they must realise that he is helping these troubled people.

I thought it was quite good and sad as well, The boys were very keen and it was a shame that the first site fell through. I will be watching it again. Sara

Excellent programme and excellent project too. Hats off to Monty, He has gone up a great deal in my estimation.
I hope that some of the NIMBYs in the first village watched it and felt thoroughly ashamed of themselves, that young man may have still been with us if the project had been able to start sooner. Well done too to the owners of Rock Farm and their neighbours. Looking forward to next weeks programmes.

Agree. Monty has gone up in my estimation (he used naughty words that didn't sound like they had been tacked on for effect a la Gordon Ramsey).
I still think GW is rubbish though.

I felt that, knowing that they were all people on a knife edge who had been let down before, the preparation, finding a place & making sure you would have support, should have been done in advance. I can't imagine it would come as a surprise to anyone who has lived in a village that there would be upset if a scheme like that was not discussed before hand.

Just been reading the "Scary" thread which has turned into a discussion about the sex industry and drug addictions which reminded me of this thread. I watched last night's episode and was very moved by all the young offenders stories. What a terrible thing drug addiction is. Poor Monty looked a bit out of his depth but isn't giving up, so good for him. And isn't that Probation Officer - Rocky is it? - absolutely amazing? He appears to be a tower of strength, patience and endlessly dedicated. And as a very frivolous aside - the shots of Monty at the Gardener of the year filming showed a cameraman dropping something - CPB and I went to school with him! Hello Keith!

Ooh, Eth - he's still gorgeous in a very posh sort of way! He has hardly changed - I clocked all this in the 3 second shot of him - almost total body scan.......

Hello Keith! yes, when that irish lad was having a pop i really felt for monty, his look just said 'what do i say now??' good on him though. what's happened to all the workers though? they seem to've all changed from the first episode last thursday.

I caught the program for the firsttime this week. I have to agree - Monty has definitely gone up in my estimation. He so clearly cares about the people he's trying to help and he really did seem quite upset when he thought that the probation officer was keeping something from him.
I'm going to try and watch the rest of the series.

seen this advertised in the tv guide but unfortunately not showing in scotland Greenwizard you'd be able to get it on Sky by selecting the English Channels. They're on the menu thingy on the last pages it gives them all ie ITV Yorkshire, BBC1 SW etc....made the mistake of suggesting this to OH when he wanted to watch a footie game which turned out to be on English channels and not Scotland! Ouch!

Had enough of this now. It seems to be pretty much the same thing each week and any sympathy that I had for the addicts at the beginning has completely evaporated. Any gardening is pretty non existent.
Monty is also irritating me now with his Bio Dynamics - and why does he have to wear those daft braces?

I know what you mean! I try to be compassionate as I'm NOT any sort of addict and have no idea what it's really like but they are pretty useless aren't they? Everything is being done for them, they have the most fantastic polytunnel, proper good quality raised beds, a brand new tractor, a really nice "club" house - everything your average gardener dreams of in fact! The bio dynamics stuff is just plain silly too - that bloke is as silly as a silly thing (poor cockerel). I have no idea why they are doing all that as it's completely irrelevant. I think the posh farmer's wife is hilarious. I wish someone would give me organic home raised pork! I still think it's a very good idea and will continue to watch it but I don't think many of the addicts involved have any idea how lucky they are to be there. P'raps you really can't help some people......

I watched this for the first time last night, it was good that one person had got a job saw the preview for next week and I'm sorry to say the woman looks a right ?. Some people want to change but some don't. Whats that saying you can help people some of the time but you cant help them all of the time.
