What a twee programme last night, in my opinion anyway. Good old Monty stuffing veggies into an old sack trying to look like Santa and Sarah Raven lording it over enough expensive flowers to fill a flower shop. And as for spraying glitter on real roses - she destroyed the glorious lushness of the flowers. I did like Joe's bit on Christmas and trees though, despite finding his modern alternatives somewhat naff, and seeing Carol eating those raw sprouts made even my taste buds shut down - and I love sprouts normally!!! The best bit of that frippery was Monty saying "More wine" in the outtakes at the end!!!  |

I just couldn't be bothered with it, & I never used to miss G W, I think it needs a major rethink, I wonder if it is all in a garden which doesnot seem to belong to anyone & there isn't the same love

I'm with you Plocket, I thought it was all too "nicey nicey". I quite enjoyed Joe's Christmas tree bits but as for the rest, I thought it was pretty rubbish.
Hopefully they'll have a bit of a rethink over the format of the program in 2007 - it'll lose a lot of viewers if they don't.

Wasn't it a laugh - although not intentionally! Why do they do that twinklytwinkly life style stuff?? Do any but a tiny number of upper middle class ladies really do that thing with the glass tubes and OTT decorations? Even down to earth Carol seems to have got the bug. It's such a shame as I really quite enjoyed the stuff in between - the gardening stuff - and I hate being critical of GW as I like the presenters and the programme but WHY can't we just have GARDENING and PLANTS!

Coz it's Christmas? Oh I don't know! I have pretty much given up on GW but decided to watch the programme. It certainly hasn't encouraged me to watch the new series next year anyway. Perhaps they should have done a gardening panto!!! ;D
