My lovely little dwarf tulips are coming up with half their growing tips missing...almost like catterpilla damage. Can i presume this is slug damage caused by those little grey "snerts" that live underground. Or is it weevil or even earwig damage Anything i can do about it....has anyone used those nematodes that eat slugs....and do they work in winter ? Any help would be appreciated

Could it be Blackbird or even pigeon damage?

Hi Andy I remembered there was a disscussion about nematodes last year on the boards. I have just looked through all the back pages and found this post from 'Madonplants.' I have just checked the site and it mentions nematodes for slugs. If I remember rightly some people said that Nemotodes can only be used in the spring and Autumn. Hope it helps. Alicat.

I'll still talk to you despite your man trying to take my mans legs off at the knee! I use Nematodes and they are very effective albeit expensive. Try this site for more info.. www.greengardener.co.uk/ They always say start in March , which I believe is temp controlled re acttivity of slugs, or ground temp required for nematodes to live. In the mean time start eating grapefruit for breakfast then use the inverted skins to trap the buggers!! How you dispose of the things is up to you. Foz
