Evening all. Does anyone know if there are any rules and regulations with regard to tall structures in a front garden. I'm thinking of arches round front gates and pergola/ arbour type structures. I don't remember reading anything about that in planning permission guidelines before. Thank you.

Hi Jonah, I'm not sure about pergolas etc, but I have a feeling that front garden boundary fences may not be more than one metre high. Of course this makes no sense at all given that I know of no restriction on plants/trees. Why not have a look at your local council's website, or even email them for advice?

I think if it's going to be more than 1.8metres high then you need to apply for planning permission - best check with your LA.

Thanks guys, I've emailed the council, so I'll see what they have to say.
