hello Canary Creeper, yeah another Dub. I actually met CG for the first time ever, about two or three weeks ago, so that was nice. That was the first time in over a year since they joined the beeb board that we finally 'hooked up'. I'm a southside boy, originally from Rialto, and live nearby, so CG is not too far from me, tho' Clondalkin is the 'sticks' to me! lol
Plocket, yeah, it's me. I had a problem with my password (head like a sieve). I was on here on Sunday and Spruance has offered to reset me back to the original babyswan. I have just emailed saying 'leave it, it's okay' but I am easy really. thank you Rita, Derekthefox I know from A4A, and Busy Bee.
I think I will throw my lot on here, the bbc board is dying a death, what with the 3 minute wait. Peeps have been dropping off like flies recently. Though it's kinda off season too...so it's bound to be quiet. Oh yeah, Palustris and PStick showed up a few weeks ago. Haven't heard of PStick for ages. (now hold on, were they one and the same, hmmm) Anyway, and no William on there either. that was a loss indeed. When I saw a picture of him, he looked so young! lol
Now hold on, everyone else's photo made them look young too. nearly digging a hole for myself there!
regards,

Plocket I'll have you know you know well my name!!! Shall I start singing 'mona lisa, mona lisa' for you ? Or the theme from the Coronetto ad, the one with the gondolas!!! Don't you recognise my photo from the mug's gallery of about a month ago?Me and my doggie!I'm on there twice, once I posted on the original thread, then on the thread with photos only,no comments. Anyway. my montana has not been trimmed for two years. It has taken over the holly tree beside it. I am sorely tempted to hack the whole thing back. Actually Plocket, I was thinking of you the last few days, cos it must've been 2 years ago you said you were thinking, or had thought of getting a silver birch in your garden, but hadn't decided. That was in the days before you showed your charming redbricked garden wall. (I love that wall. Imagine, no hedge clipping!)lol. Cos, my silver birch has just shed 90% of its leaves, but for those 10 days or so of the changing colours....ah it was brilliant. I have a common beech, fagus sylvatus, that has turned colours. But that one goes through two or three changes before it settles down till it metamorphs in late April. I have it shaped in a column-like obelisk. Canary creeper, no way, the cottages. We were on the SCR the opposite side of the church to Murphys. One of my brothers lived in the cottages after he got married for a while. I think the third one up on the right. I think the number was in the 60's. I was involved in a guerrilla style garden in Dolphins Barn about 18 months ago. www.dolphinsbarngarden.org is where it's at. It had to close cos of the owner of the land even if nothing will ever be built on it. If you go to the links and the one about planting spuds on St.Patricks day, about the 6th comment, has a photo of my dear doggie. That photo is my desktop wallpaper. Ah, she's a cutie. So, you're a nort sider now. Wat's de bleedin story? There are three garden projects on the northside continuing. They are linked on that website, check them out. A lot of the same people are involved. I was in Sitric Road about a month ago, ohh it's brilliant. Two back to back houses, ends of terraces, with a tiny bit of land between the gable wall and the railings. There was a street party. It was a bit poignant really, cos a very good friend of mine, sadly departed, used to work across the road in a little workshop, like the garage on Eastenders. A neon sign makers. Anyway, Rialto won best Urban Village (southside) and 2nd overall in the Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards 2006. Guess who's Chair. oooooohhh. Signing autographs next. Ah, I only do a little, one of the committee is a REAL driving force, bringing the rest of us along with us! I think, since this afternoon, kind Spruance has morphed me into simply babyswan, and I'll leave it at that. regards, Ciaran

I thought it was you Grammar but didn't dare post incase I was wrong!!! It's lovely to see you here and hopefully you'll stick around! Heavens I've got to remember yet another name you are using!!! ;D
I still haven't got a silver birch but one day Babyswan, one day! And you are so right that I don't have to worry about hedge-trimming - I do have to prune a lot of the clems though!!! Your birches sound lovely - if you get a chance will you post a photo here for us to see?
Actually it was the "meeting up with CG" information that finally helped the penny drop with me ;D

Hi Babyswan,
I know Murphy's well - my best friend lived in the Buildings and we often used to go down for a bottle of something nice! Re. the Dolphin's Barn garden, thanks to 4P's thread re. school allottments (see water features), I went onto this website to find out what's happening in Dublin a couple of weeks ago, and signed up - in fact, apparently they've received a € 1,000 grant for the Rialto/DB area, and € 500 for the Finglas garden; there's a meeting to discuss using all this largesse on Friday, 7 p.m. in seomra spraoi ... cheers ...
